Other Languages in HBO GoT
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:51:01 am »
We know from this twitter post that David Peterson assisted with the White Walkers' dialogue.

What are the other languages he helped on, again?

I asked David about that comment on twitter and he confirmed that the "language" of the white walkers is the one they refer to as Skroth in the credits. He is also credited with creating the ashai'i language in the credits but what that is about is yet unknown. It's probably just some type of short consultation at this point though.

Creating a language that sounds like Ice breaking would be a bit interesting.

Hmm. I'm not sure that they really need another language. They'd probably just speak the Old Tongue, anyway.

Maybe I'm just a stick-to-the-book-ist.

It is from the books. It says they spoke a language that sounded like ice cracking, it's in the prologue.

I'm not entirely sure about the, well, canonicity of the prologue. It was almost the first chapter he wrote, and he hadn't fully fleshed out the world, yet. But yes.
