Beginners / The complete YouTube tutorials
« Last post by Purple Hyena on August 27, 2017, 02:05:13 am »
Hello, my name is fadi ramadan and I'm excited to be part of this amazing community!
I've been learning a lot lately and am fully immersed in it!!!
My friends and I started learning valyrian because of our current work on a Ice and fire inspired table top RPG game.(free)
We wanted to be able to role play speaking the language actually and hence we began learning...

Upon our search we found that video tutorials are lacking. And even thou there is the valyrian academy on YouTube which is great!
We are going to create a fully fleshed out detailed video lessons.
However we need help from the community.
Once we begin any mistakes we make please let us know so that we can correct them asap!
In the coming weeks we will begin our first lessons.

I hope you guys like it.
In the meantime if some one else already did something as detailed as we hope to achieve please post a link here
Thank you so much
And have a great day!

Dothraki Language Updates / Dothraki Prayer
« Last post by Reuben22 on August 23, 2017, 05:55:50 pm »
M'ath eyak! I'm going on a camping trip this weekend and I'm bringing some sage and gear for ceremony on this inlet that leads into a river. Full disclosure: I'm only part Native American but have learned some ceremony from my mentor who's Native Hawaiian and a colleague who's Ojibwe. I decided to say my prayer to the water in Dothraki and wanted to share it and get some feedback on my grammar skills (and catch any little mistakes I may have made).

Azhi jin azho ashefaan h'anhaan. Ashefa inavva shakfi ma meme azhi kisha atthirar. San athchomari shafkaan ha finaan ei shafka ray azh anna. Anha zalak astat ashefaan fin anha zigererak mae. Anha ray haj ma ray ver hezhah vosm' ashefa ray vitha mra oakah anni ayyey. Anha vek m'anha vo nesok finne anakhak. Anha qafak fin ashefa rhelae anna vezat gachezhor anni. Kesse anna finnesaan anha movekkhak. San athchomari shafkaan.

[Translation: Give this gift to the river for me. The river is your sister and she gives us life. Thank you for all that you have given me. I want to say to the river that I miss her. I have grown strong and have traveled far but the river has always flowed in my soul. I will be going and I do not know when I will stop. I ask that the river help me find my "home" (heartplace). Carry me to where I am meant. Thank you.]

M'athchomaroon !!!!

It's been a looong time since I logged in!

First of all : I apologise, deeply, for this absence. I had the french dictionnary at charge, and never found time to spare for it for the last 3 years. Quite a lot of change in my life, hard to conceal them with my obligations here.
There is no word weither in english, neither french, nor dothraki, to express the apology I want to make.

Now I'm back in the arena, so, who can tell me how things are now? Did someone took the french dictionary in charge?

I received an email shortly after removing the ban on my account, so all is good. I saw someone already added the dialogue, so all is well :) Thank you!

Speaking of problems with the site, I also couldn't sign up on the forums at all. I had to contact the moderator by IRC and have them open an account for me. I only tried to sign up once, but it said I was being locked out as spam protection as I had triggered it due to multiple attempts. Probably an overly zealous spam protection system.

It looks like someone else posted dialogue, but it doesn't, at least at first blush, look like it matches David's blog or your attempt. Yet, I know who posted the dialogue, and I know him to be reliable. So, I'm not sure what is going on here. Obviously, you can see the forums. Can you see any other parts of the wiki?

Miriam, your contribution to the site is important and valuable, so first, Athchomar san yeraan!

I am trying to figure out what is going on here. I also experienced an interesting problem with the entire server this board sits on: It was locked out by IP address by the firewall at my workplace. Since there were other, unrelated sites locked out as well, it is likely a coincidence you experienced what you experienced. But I will look into it.

David has a nice Tumbl page. I love his scripts!

San athchomari shafkea, zhey Choyosor!

Yes, I'd love for my astrology system to be included in the Dothraki Atlas and I'd love to take part in the building out other parts of it. Now that I've changed jobs I've had a lot of work/life balance so I can pursue more of my hobbies. Sekosshi, frakhas anhaan vi PMaan ma me vallayafa anna rhelalat!

Hey. I was hoping someone here could help me. I was trying to add the season 7 High Valyrian dialogue page to the Dothraki wiki since David Peterson has shared the dialogue from episode 2 on his blog. Apparently I triggered the spam filter when trying to add the page, and I'm now blocked from making any edits. Here is the edit I was trying to make:

Code: [Select]
What was actually said in the series diverges at times from what Peterson initially wrote for the dialogue, due to practical limitations of production process. What is presented here is at places closer to Peterson's writing than to the end result. You might take it as an idealised version.

== Dialogue ==

=== Episode 2 - ''[[wikipedia:Stormborn|Stormborn]]''===
* Grey Worm: '''Yn ilirí, nya dare. Me vohty mili hin Asshai o pindas m’odhir.''' ''"Forgive me, my queen. A red priestess from Asshai begs a word."''<ref name="DJP601"></ref>
* Melisandre: '''Dārȳs Daenerys. Dohaeriros istin, sindita liortā, qilonta ozbartā. Riglose Belmot Pryjatys rhaenan.''' ''"Queen Daenerys. I was a slave once, bought and sold, scourged and branded. It is an honor to meet the Breaker of Chains."''<ref name="DJP601"/>
* Daenerys: '''Meli Voktyssy Mīrīni lyks mazverdagon beldis. Kesīr drējī jiorilaks. Skoroso jemele brōzia?''' ''"The Red Priests helped bring peace to Meereen. You are very welcome here. What is your name?"''<ref name="DJP601"/>
* Melisandre: '''Melisandrose brōziks.''' ''"I am called Melisandre."''<ref name="DJP601"/>
* Melisandre: '''Bosys bantis amāzis, se morghor zijomy amāzis. Meri kīvio dārilaros ōz maghagon kostas.''' ''"The long night is coming, and the dead come with it. Only the prince who was promised can bring the dawn."''<ref name="DJP601"/>
* Grey Worm: '''Mají.''' ''"Enter."''<ref name="DJP601"/>

It wasn't complete yet, but I was hoping to add to it further, particularly the small one line descriptions accompanying the quotes. Any idea why the filter might have triggered? Should I have not tried to create the page myself, or did I do something wrong? I'm not exactly experienced at editing wiki pages, so I apologise.

In any case, here is the blog entry: . If someone else who knows what they're doing could add the page, that'd be great!
