Hello everyone !

I just finish my work. The first Memrise Dothraki-French course is on live !

http://www.memrise.com/course/1361832/dothraki-francais/

To do this, I created 2 programs. The first created a excell file (.xls format with ';' separator) from the html code of the vocabulary page. After a very long manual translating in French, the second shuffled words and created a Memrise adding file.

I upload the excell file, it will be useful for future translating into other language : https://www.dropbox.com/s/3n075nh48mhlbhx/Dothraki.xls?dl=0

Salut tout le monde !

Je viens juste de finir. La première course Memrise Dothraki-Français est en ligne !

http://www.memrise.com/course/1361832/dothraki-francais/

Pour réaliser cela, j'ai créé 2 programmes. Le premier a créé un fichier excell (format .xls avec ';' comme séparateur) à partir du code html de la page vocabulaire. Après une très longue traduction manuelle en Français, le second a mélangé les mots et créé un fichier d'ajout Memrise.

Je mets en ligne le fichier excell, ça pourra être utile pour de futures traductions en d'autres langues : https://www.dropbox.com/s/3n075nh48mhlbhx/Dothraki.xls?dl=0

M'athchomaroon !

I don't understand what melikheya and tikkheya means... "the patient's/instigator's half of the act". Have you some example to explain that ?

General Discussion / Translating the Song "Dragonborn" into Dothraki
« on: September 28, 2015, 05:05:00 am »
Hello everyone ! I try to translate the Skyrim song Dragonborn into Dothraki. This is my first work, I think there are some mistake and it's incomplete. (I ask @Dedalvs in this tweet for the translation of "to pray", and there is no word for it :/)

Dragonborn, Dragonborn, by his honor is sworn,
To keep evil forever at bay!
And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph's shout,
Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray!

   Zhavorsak(?), zhavorsak, allosha mra chomokh,
   Ahhezhahat meli ayyeyaan !
Ma dozgosi vervenanaz thimae affinaan mori charoe awaz najaheya,
   Zhavorsak, kisha zalaki azhasavva yeroon

Hearken now, sons of snow, to an age, long ago,
And the tale, boldly told, of the one!
Who was kin to both wyrm, and the races of man,
With a power to rival the sun!

   Charo valsheki ajjin, kashisoon foz,
   Ma (tale) ? ? ?
Fini me qoy zhavorsi, ma qoy mahrazhi,
   Ma athmovezar atthasay shekh !

And the voice, he did wield, on that glorious field,
When great Tamriel shuddered with war!
Mighty Thu'um, like a blade, cut through enemies all,
As the Dragonborn issued his roar!

Ma memgommi(?) fin me okhe ven hoyali vezhven,
Affinaan athvilajerar aqqov Tamriel lain !
Thu'um haj rissa dozgosoon ven az,
Affinaan Zhavorsak lavakhe(?) zor(?) mae !

Dragonborn, Dragonborn, by his honor is sworn,
To keep evil forever at bay!
And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph's shout,
Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray!

   Zhavorsak, zhavorsak, alloshe mra chomokh,
   Ahhezhahat meli ayyeyaan !
Ma dozgosi vervenanaz thimae affinaan mori charoe awaz najaheya,
   Zhavorsak, kisha zalaki azhasavva yeroon

And the Scrolls have foretold, of black wings in the cold,
That when brothers wage war come unfurled!
Alduin, Bane of Kings, ancient shadow unbound,
With a hunger to swallow the world!

Ma timviri movee assikhqoyi, felde kasga fisho,
Fini vitishera affinaan gaezo vilajeroe gaezo mori !
Alduin, jaqqa Khali, lei foz ma vaes,
   Garvoe adakhat sorfosor !

But a day, shall arise, when the dark dragon's lies,
Will be silenced forever and then!
Fair Skyrim will be free from foul Alduin's maw!
Dragonborn be the savior of men!

Vosma asshekh ajadoe, affinaan qosarvenikh zhavorsi kasga
   Vacchaki ayyeyaan ma !
Skyrim jili sandie ha hoska sorf haji Anduin !
   Zhavorsak vijazerok mahrazhi !

Dragonborn, Dragonborn, by his honor is sworn,
To keep evil forever at bay!
And the fiercest foes rout when they hear triumph's shout,
Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray!

   Zhavorsak, zhavorsak, allosha mra chomokh,
   Ahhezhahat meli ayyeyaan !
Ma dozgosi vervenanaz thimae affinaan mori charoe awaz najaheya,
   Zhavorsak, kisha zalaki azhasavva yeroon

Beginners / Translate expressions
« on: September 17, 2015, 06:39:30 am »
I'm training me to translate in Dothraki some sentence. I translate "That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger" by "Haz (vos) addrivo kisha, haja kisha", but I'm not sure of this. It's correct ?

Beginners / Possession Dothraki
« on: September 11, 2015, 01:57:36 am »
Thanks to Qvaak for the blog link : http://www.dothraki.com/2012/11/possession/

I understand more how that work, I will try to make a post with a lot of exemple in french/english for future beginners, if you can correct my work ^^

Exemples:

Alienable possession :
Ma chaise / My chair
Adori anni

Ta pomme / Your apple
Qazer yeri

Son épée / his|her blade
Az mae

Il embrasse sa femme / He kiss his wife
Me zoqwa chiorikem mae

Elle mange la pomme de Jenni / She eat the john's apple
Me adakha qazer haji Jenni

Inalienable possession :
La tête du Roi / The king's head
Nhare (Khaloon)

Les ailes de l'oiseau / The bird wings
Felde (ziroon)

Mon pied / My foot
Rhae (anhoon)

Les cheveux de la Khaleesi sont blancs / Khaleesi's hair is white
Noreth (Khaleesisoon) zasqa

Le bras de John est blessé / John's arm is wounded
Qora haji John zisa

Beginners / Dothraki Conjugeur - v1.0.0 - Alizia
« on: August 25, 2015, 09:13:08 am »
Hello everyone !

This little software can conjugate a dothraki verb and generate a conjugation table.

Windows
v1.0.0 (english, français)

Done :
- basic conjugation with negation
- (media)wiki file
- excell file
- multi language
- conjugation with exception
- ephethesis with exception
- extraction from verblist file
- colored verb ending (for wiki)

In test/progress :

Future update :
- config file for select only wiki or/and excell, color setting

Exception supported :
- Ending special letter (sh, ch, kh, zh, th)
- Tat (past single)
- Silat (double ending type)
- Vrelat (l/-at verb)
- Asshilat (l/-at verb)
- Assilat (double ending type)
- Ayolat (l/-at verb)
- Chilat (l/-at verb)
- Hoyalat (l/-at verb)
- Koalat (l/-at verb)
- Shilat (l/-at verb)
- Yolat (l/-at verb)
- Zalat (l/-at verb)
- Zhilat (l/-at verb)
- Zolat (l/-at verb)

Multi language : English / Français
When you run it for the first time, it demands your language.
Choose it and it's saved in the future.
If you want to change language, delete "dothraki.config" file and run it again.
It changes all messages in the software and in table.

If you want any other language, please send me exact traduction of all text.

Conjugation exception, text file "conjugation.exception"
This file is only for l/-at exception and is very easy to edit, the format is :

"verb type"
"verb type"
...

'verb' is the infinitive verb.
'type' is 2 if the verb is only a -at verb, 3 if the verb is a -at and -lat verb.

To add/remove a verb exception, just add/remove a new/old lign in the file.

Extraction from verblist file
A dothraki.verblist file exemple is in the directory with all verb of dictionary. Of course, you can make your file like you want, the format is :

"verb"
"verb"
"verb"
...

'verb' is the infinitive verb.

For exemple, if you want to conjugate silat, ifat and iddelat, make a new text file, change the ending file by .verblist and write into it :

silat
ifat
iddelat

Move the text file on the .exe file and enjoy

Bug known :
- Winshit 8 : the program can close itself at the end, but work.
- Tat (Past single) : don't work in 0.0.2 - fix 0.0.3
- verb ending l/-at not supported - fix 0.0.4

Please report any mistake, bug or exception not supported here and enjoy :)

M'athchomaroon !

Fonas chek !

M'athchomaroon !

I'm looking for a english/french speaker to teach me and speak with me in Dothraki regularly. I want to improve my level. Translate English Documentation on Dothraki grammar is so difficult for me. It's more easy to learn with practice.

I make some simple sentences and I'm learning vocabulary with Memrise course "Dothraki Words". I'm missing transparent details of sentence structure, noun cases, auxiliary verb...

If you are interested, please contact me on MP or Skype (alizia.kaline). Fonas chek !
