Announcements / Problems with the wiki
November 29, 2018, 01:08:00 PM
Some of you may have noticed that the wiki has suddenly become very slow responding. The reason for this problem is still unknown, and the good folks at LearnNavi have been looking into it as well. We have come to the conclusion that there is some sort of low-level problem with the wiki that is best fixed with a software update. Sometime over the weekend of December 1st/2nd, I am going to try and upgrade the wiki. This may be simple; it may be very complicated. Stay tuned for future information about this upgrade. Also feel free to ask questions here, or PM me.

Looks like its working already.
For spammers who get through, it is better to ban them or delete their account?

Thank you, everyone who has marked spam posts as spam. That cleans up the board for everyone and also makes my job easier :)

Because of my schedule, my presence on Discord is spotty. But thanks for thinking of me :)

Good to see you in here, zhey Ochristi. It's been a long time!

I wonder if we should consider setting up a wiki dictionary for these new words, of course pointing out they are fan created and definitely not canon.

David Peterson is also very busy with a family and several other projects, I'm sure. I bet David would like to see what you have done as well.

Dothraki Language Updates / Re: The Dictionary Thread
January 02, 2018, 05:56:49 PM
The wiki word list and dictionary only contain official words that have come from David Peterson, or are vetted by him. BTW, I am trying to find a weekend to update the dictionary. The wiki is pretty much up to date.

It would be interesting to start an unofficial dictionary with non-vetted words, with the understanding it will never be official or canon.

Can anyone here translate the previous topic, which appears to be in Russian?

Athdavrazar!

Why is the "I will face my fears" line missing?

Dothraki Language Updates / Re: Dothraki Prayer

Athdavrazar, zhey Ruben22!

I'll have to try trasnslating this into Na'vi as well.

It looks like someone else posted dialogue, but it doesn't, at least at first blush, look like it matches David's blog or your attempt. Yet, I know who posted the dialogue, and I know him to be reliable. So, I'm not sure what is going on here. Obviously, you can see the forums. Can you see any other parts of the wiki?

Miriam, your contribution to the site is important and valuable, so first, Athchomar san yeraan!

I am trying to figure out what is going on here. I also experienced an interesting problem with the entire server this board sits on: It was locked out by IP address by the firewall at my workplace. Since there were other, unrelated sites locked out as well, it is likely a coincidence you experienced what you experienced. But I will look into it.

David has a nice Tumbl page. I love his scripts!

Beginners / Re: High Valyrian is now on Duolingo!

That's exciting news! High Valyrian has attracted a lot of scholarly attention, but not as much popular attention. This might help move High Valyrian a little closer to Dothraki in terms of being a widely known and used language.

I love to watch how the folks here are working together to make these kinds of projects successful. Klingon adopted "Hamlet', Na'vi adopted "The Lion King" (not my doing!). Now, it looks like Dothraki will adopt "The Art of War"!

P.S. I stickied this thread!

Athdavrazar! What a cool translation project! And some new word ideas as well.
